Omnipresent
“Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
Psalm 139:7-10
Today we’ll be leaning into the knowledge that God is ever present with us.
As humans it will be difficult to ever comprehend what an infinite God is like. We are severely limited by time and space. We can only be present in one location at a time. What we know cannot be applied to God. This makes it difficult to imagine how God can be present everywhere all at once. Which is a great reminder that God is God and we are not. This reminder leads us to trust God with something that we cannot understand.
“The doctrine of the divine omnipresence personalizes man’s relation to the universe in which he finds himself. This great central truth gives meaning to all other truths and imparts supreme value to all his little life. God is present, near him, next to him, and this God sees him and knows him through and through.” Knowledge of the Holy A.W. Tozer
Meditation
Read Acts 17:24-28
Read John 1:1-18
We do not need to go anywhere to be in the presence of God. But we do need to approach God with right humility.
From the book None Greater by Matthew Barret “Going to God and seeking his face does not consist in making a pilgrimage but in self-abasement and repentance. The sinner’s distance from God is due to sin, yet this distance is not “locally but spiritually.”
“But your iniquities have separated
you from your God;
your sins have hidden his face from you,
so that he will not hear.” Isaiah 59:2Confession
Take this time to reflect on what makes you human and where your pride or insecurity or selfishness may be a barrier to experiencing God’s presence. Knowing that God is omnipresent AND all merciful and forgiving is a comfort during our time of confession. 1 John 1:9 states that “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
Share your heart with God. Jesus humbled himself so that we might experience God’s presence. Take time today to enjoy that gift.
The rest of the time is for you and God. Invite Him to speak or sit with Him in companionable silence.

We would love to keep you in the loop for our future solitude days. Please fill out the information below so we can make sure to include you in our reminders.
